Boy Bastos

I thought that the Boy Bastos brouhaha with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and Sen. Loren Legarda had already died down but it seems that is not the case. According to Pinoy Ambisyoso a lot of people are still searching for the term “Boy Bastos” and also boybastos.com

In case you didn’t know Boy Bastos (Mark Verzo in real life) operated an online porn site called boybastos.com which according to Sen. Loren Legarda “provides Internet users including minors unrestricted access to the largest online accumulation of hardcore pornographic material of Filipino women and girls”.

Sen. Loren Legarda has made closure of the http://www.boybastos.com site a personal crusade which some say is an effect of her presidential ambitions. She has urged the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) and the National Bureau of Investigation to shut down the site.

Mr. Boy Bastos himself (Mark Verso) was taken into custody by the NBI, it is still not clear if he was arrested or just “invited” for questioning. I am actually surprised there has not been too much attention focused on the manner in which Mark Verso was arrested errr was “invited”.

I just recently tried accessing the boybastos.com site but it redirected to another site http://thoughtsinbinary.com which seems to be Mark Verso’s personal blog. So I guess we can chalk up a win in Sen. Loren Legarda’s column… Loren Legarda 1 Boy Bastos 0…
